Day of The Dead (2008)

  • Year: 2008

  • Country: USA

  • Directors: Steve Miner

  • Format: Zombies

  • Version: DVDRip
  • Synopsis: A group of enact military quarantined a village ravaged by a mysterious virus (guess what! makes zombies!)

Initial Impression: Vulgar movie that pays homage to Romero's classic film or continuing the great remake of Dawn of The Dead ... but it serves as cheap entertainment.

Script and Development: is the typical approach of the generic zombie movie. Since we see the military putting people in quarantine can guess absolutely all events that will happen then is more, the typical scenarios of this kind of films are repeated here from the hospital to the secret military base. Until we can figure out which characters will survive, since they are the typical stereotypes.

That's not necessarily bad. It's a formula that works more or less and the action scenes are pretty decent, it would bring him to be a good movie on Sunday afternoon (in lieu of any of Steven Seagal who are going through at the moment.) But this film has the same name as the wonderful film of George Romero and aims to be the remake, could say that film is not related and that the military presence of the two is a coincidence ... but committed the sin of naming a character as "Captain Rhodes" and another as "Bud" ... and no respect for anything in their original versions, rather insulting them.

In fact, the creatures in this film are not zombies, infected but are fast that even the walls and ceilings (something only done twice, unnecessarily, probably because the budget did not give more) and worse, remember Bub in the original? This is a zombie "Bud" and they know it does not attack humans? BECAUSE IN LIFE WAS VEGETARIAN! More ridiculous to where ...

Poor movie, a lot more than zombies.

management and technical aspects: Steve Miner has directed some slashers that today are considered classics. Not as descacho with this choice. A very Serie-B film that does not stand for anything.

lighting, most of all in shades of yellow and green, is too much exaggerated and saturates the image. The gore is good, but note too the cheap CGI scenes in which they used.
The zombies are very, very ugly, with his face covered with sores and all, but not too distinctive.

Performances: We have Mena Suvari, mamasota, in military uniform, and for me that is reason enough to see this movie ... Ving Rhames is Capt. Rhodes ... while Rhames is "badass" as the single, their presence is more of a cameo, it dies very quickly. The worst is "Salazar" a military blacks than

As expected, the performances are mediocre. But they are terrible.

Reflections: But what makes this girl so beautiful, Mena Suvari, acting in Series-B movies straight to DVD? She was not a major film at the beginning of the decade? Forget it, just remember that also appeared in Carrie II .

    • The Good: For those that love horror movies "bad", we can entertain well with this film.

    • Bad: not deserve to carry that name ..

    • Ugly: This poster .

    RATING: 4 / 10
