Script and Development: Those who see this film expecting brutal torture scenes in the style of the series will Hostel both pleased and disappointed. It is true that this film has some scenes quite heavy in terms of physical torture, but not focused on them and are rather sequences that serve to advance the plot toward the topic of interest: psychology of revenge.

The film was to create an interesting character here, do you hate her or at least we saw a glimpse of the reason for their perversions, but it is more than a blank slate, whose only definition is "pedophile murderer" and although that is enough to hate him, you can expect much more. We can also say that no real climax (although I suppose that's part of the message), and the symbolism of the guilt of the protagonist represented by the rotting corpse of a deer is too obvious.
After all this, Les 5 jours du Talion is a highly recommended film, and finally, an evolution of the torture porn films to a rate where the gore is at the service of the plot, and not vice versa.
