Synopsis: Paul Sheldon is the author of a famous series of books on romance and adventure called "Misery" as its protagonist, who has died in his latest book. After an accident, is rescued by a fan, which keeps him a prisoner to write a new book that revives his heroine.
Initial Impression: Wonderful movie and very faithful to the book, which I think has written the best Stephen King.
Script and Development: I've always thought Stephen King, being the great writer who is (and one of my favorites), can not write the third act ... almost always, a book that has me completely caught end up losing entirely near the end for one reason or another ... but not Misery, the whole book is absolutely perfect and perfectly finished. But we are not here to talk about the (fantastic) book, but the film, which manages, incredibly, be as good and become the best King adaptation to date.
all in the relationship between Paul and Annie. From the first moments between them in which there is an immense warmth and devotion to fear and hate in moments of torture and confrontation. See how they evolve both, even though almost from the beginning to have visions of Annie is a little crazy (just no more, lol), is what makes this film so intriguing and leads us by the wonderful scenes of suspense, which in really make us suffer!
A wonderful and successful film by any standards, one of the best horror films in history and contains characters truly memorable (my girlfriend Annie Wilkes adores ... I care?). Definitely a film to be seen if you have not already done so.
direction and technical aspects: Scenarios beautiful, a truly claustrophobic scenes of violence without showing much blood we are shaken to the bone, lighting and soundtrack that perfectly highlights the horror that Paul must live and perfect handling Misery suspense make the masterpiece of Rob Reiner (who also directed beauties like This is Spinal Tap and my beloved The Princess Bride ).
Actions: Perfect. James Caan can transmit their suffering, despair and fear, while Kathy Bates ... well, you win Oscar, Golden Globe and a CFCA for her role as Annie Wilkes and became an icon of popular culture, needless to say more.
But people often overlook the role of Richard Farnsworth as the old Sheriff, and is really a great character and great fun.
Reflections: JK Rowlig If Harry Potter had killed in his latest book, any of you would be kidnapped and forced to relive it? Bah ... no need, many geeks habemos already planning to kidnap her and force her to write more ... and I can not imagine what the fans of the Twilight saga are planning to do with Stephanie Meyer to finish writing Midnight Sun.
Certainly if I'm going to do something, and kidnap the creators of LOST to write a new ending to the series where if you explain things, left me frustrated!
- The Good: handling of suspense and the character of Annie Wilkes.
- Bad: Many items that are taken out of the book: Novril addiction, when you cut your finger, more deaths, what really happened with the last book of Misery.
- Ugly: SPOILER to kill the Sheriff ... that despite not deserved END OF SPOILER .
